Lunda is a primary language of Zambia, which belongs to Bantu language group. Lunda also known as Chilunda is spoken overwhelmingly in the northern most part of Zambia.
Lunda is used by 245,000 people in Zambia as their source of communication. 80% of Lunda speaking people of Zambia is still adherent to the language. This language is used in literacy campaign and extension services of Zambia. Lunda is also taught in primary schools. This African Language is used in various newspapers and radio programs of the country.
Other dialects of Lunda Language is Kawiku, Lunda Kambove, Kosa, Humbu, Ndembu, Lunda Kalunda and Lunda Ndembu. Koosa is the alternate dialect name of Lunda. Other then Zambia this language is also spoken in Angola and Democratic Republic of the Congo. Lun is the language code of Lunda, which belongs to the Niger-Congo family of languages. The progress scale of this language is little slow. Maximum Lunda speaking people of Zambia are followers of Christianity.
The Lunda speaking people of Zambia who migrated to northwestern province of Zambia still maintain the ChiLunda Language, whereas the Lunda-Kazembe people shifted to the ChiBemba dialect prominently spoken in Luapula Province of Zambia.
Lunda is spoken by more then 2.6% people of Zambia.
