Yemen Currency


Yemen Currency is popularly known as Yemeni Riyal. The Yemeni Riyal or YR can also be replaced with 100 fils. The bank notes are available in denominations of 1000, 500, 200, 100, 50, 20 and 10 YR, while 10 and 5 fils are the denominations of Yemeni coins. The key advantage of this local currency is that it can be easily converted. In Yemen, there are few ATMs from where Yemen Currency can be drawn.

This local currency can be imported and exported up to YR2000 for the residents. In Yemen, no restrictions are imposed on the foreign currencies import. However, if the arrived amount exceeds US$3000, it should be informed.

The banking hours within which a person can deposit or draw Yemen Currency is from 8.30A.M to 12.00 P.M during Saturday to Wednesday and in Thursdays from 8.00 A.M to 11.30 A.M.

Yemen currency is abbreviated as YR. In 1994, a destructive civil war affected the country's economy. Since then, the government issued an agreement with IMF (International Monetary Fund) to recover the deficiencies. Floating the rial took a major part in this reformation program.
