It has been clearly stated in the Constitution of Virginia that at the head of the Virginia court system lies the Supreme Court of Virginia, whose office is controlled by the Chief Justice. Under the supreme court of Virginia's administration comes the other courts like the Court of appeals, the circuit courts, the general district courts and juvenile and domestic relations district courts. Separate advisory bodies has been created which supervises the working of the court system in the Commonwealth of Virginia, these 3 committees are; the Judicial inquiry and Review Commission, the Committee on District Courts and the Judicial Council. It falls within the ambit of the responsibilities of the chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Virginia, to nominate judges to the various tribunal courts spread all across Virginia.
The official Virginia court seal is the seal of the Supreme court of Virginia, which portrays Goddess Justitia, securing her position on a throne and holding the scales of justice in her left hand, but her right hand points towards an ostrich. The Virginia court's organization constitutes some very important officials who occupy the designations of the Clerk of the Supreme court, the executive secretary of the apex court, the chief staff attorney of the Supreme court, the court reporter and the law librarian. The newly developed websites for the apex and other courts of Virginia, have enabled citizens to obtain Virginia court case information on all such areas related to the name of the case and its number as also under which court's jurisdiction it falls.
