He was the president of UAE, and the mosque was named after him to pay respect to his achievements.

Thousands of workers worked under more than 38 contractors to complete various parts of the mosque. The materials used in the construction were obtained from several countries including Germany, New Zealand, Greece, Italy, Austria, India and China.

Around 1,200 to 1,300 carpet weavers were hired to make this carpet designed by Iranian artist Ali Khaliqi. Seven imported chandeliers from Germany, comprising of millions of Swarovski crystals embellish the mosque.

The building is so beautiful that it is now considered to be one of the loveliest landmarks of the Abu Dhabi city.
