Slovakia is a parliamentary republic and it operates under the
Slovakia parliament system of Government. In contrast to the Presidential republic and the semi presidential system the head of the state doesn't have any broad executive powers like the President would have because all those powers are given to the head of the government who is usually the prime-minister. Mostly the head of the Government and the head of the state form a single office in a parliamentary republic but the president is still elected in the same manner like that of the Parliament. The President can be called as the major part of the coalition of parties in the
parliament of Slovakia.
The
Slovakian Parliament consists of:
- The Constitutional and the legislative power
- The executive power
- The Judiciary Power
The Territorial Divisions of the
Slovakia parliament are mainly 8 and they are namely:
- Bratislava
- Trnava
- Nitra
- Trencin
- Zilina
- Banska Bystrica
- Presov
- Kosice
In rare cases, the President of
Slovakia Parliament legally grants the executive powers to them so that they can even undertake the day to day running of the Government but conventionally these powers are generally not used by them. Therefore some parliamentary republic can be seen following the semi-presidential system but it operates under the Parliamentary system.
Studying the history of the
Slovakia Parliament you will see that the state was initially the constitutional monarchies and the position of head of the state is the monarch and it's being replaced by an elected non-executive president.
