Rwanda Foreign Trade



Rwanda is situated in the Central Africa and 90% of the people of Rwanda earn their livelihood through agriculture. After the mass killing in 1994, the country was unable to attract private investments. The foreign trade of Rwanda has suffered much due to the civil war. Poverty is a perennial problem in Rwanda, though many non-governmental organizations have come forward to help the country revive back its normal position.

The commonly known foreign exchange earners of Rwanda are coffee and tea. The coffee manufacture in Rwanda has economically boosted up the development of the country. One of the most popular coffees is the Butare coffee, which is being produced at the Butcafe. After the genocide, the production of coffee in Rwanda came to a halt. But, over the years it has regained its glory in coffee production. Recently, the Rwanda foreign trade is flourishing slowly.

From the year 2005, the Twubakane Program has taken a project of providing DIF funds to 12 districts of Rwanda. Days are not far when Rwanda will be considered to one of the most developed countries in the world. The Gorilla fund coffee is very popular in Africa which is exported to the other countries for earning revenue. The money received is invested in the preservation of the African Gorillas.

Different types of blended coffees like Albion river inn blend, Beaujolais blend, Birders blend, Breakfast Blend WP decaf, Colombian blend are exported overseas and are the main Rwanda Foreign Trade. The main industries include agricultural products, small-scale beverages, soap, furniture, plastic goods, shoes textiles, cigarettes, cement. Tea and Coffee are the two main foreign exchange earners of Rwanda.
