The Twenty-ninth Modern Olympics: The 2008 Summer Olympics are officially known as the Games of the XXIX Olympiad . The Summer Games will be held in Beijing, the capital city of the People's Republic of China in the year 2008. Some events ( beach volleyball, sailing, swimming's new marathon ) will be held in Quingdao city. Hong Kong will organize the equestrian events at Hong Kong Sports Institute in Fo Tan, Sha Tin.
Venue: The twenty-ninth Summer Games will be held in the year 2008 in the Beijing National Stadium in Beijing , the capital of People's Republic of China . The Opening and Closing ceremonies of the 2008 Summer Games will be held in the Beijing National Stadium . The stadium will also be the main track and field stadium.

A Brief Description of the Twenty-ninth Olympiad: The Twenty-ninth Summer Games will be held from 8 th August to 24 th August in the year 2008 in Beijing , capital of the People's Republic of China. The Games will be officially opened by the President. For the second time in Olympics' history, Summer Games of the same season will be held in two different countries –China and Hong Kong. The Olympic Torch carrying the Olympic Flame will pass through 28 cities around the world on its way to Beijing.
