Life in Namibia includes diverse culture, economy, etc. Life in Namibia is carried on simple principles. Major part of the population is engaged in farming and herding. Others are into mining operations. Urban population of Namibia leads a cosmopolitan lifestyle.
Namibians mainly follow Christianity. 80% to 90% of the population is follower of Christianity while the rest 10% to 20% are believers of indigenous faiths. The ethnic groups of Namibia includes Himba, Nama, Owambo, Herero, Damara, Kavango, Caprivians, Tswanas, Rehoboth Basters, Topnaars, Busmen(San), Whites and Coloureds. Himba is the oldest tribe dwelling in Namibia. The people of this tribe still adhere to the traditional ways of life. The other tribes are also closely linked to their roots. Urbanity has not touched their ways of life. The tribes of Namibia are mainly engaged in hunting, herding and farming for their sustenance.
AIDS is a major concern of the people of Namibia. This deadly disease is affecting more and more people of Namibia. According to the 2001 census, around 16,000 people in Namibia died of HIV/AIDS. The Namibian government is taking major steps to overcome this problem. Other diseases affecting the lives of people living in Namibia are typhoid fever, hepatitis A, malaria, bacterial diarrhea, etc.
