In the world of motor racing, Monaco Grand Prix is one of the most prestigious race tracks. Each year the race here is held on the Circuit de Monaco. Monaco Grand Prix race course is actually the narrow streets of Monte Carlo and La Condamine with a number of tight corners which makes life difficult for the racers. This tiring race of 77 laps is one of the three major Grand Prix events in the world.
Monaco Grand Prix is organized by the Automobile Club de Monaco. The race starts on Friday and on Thursday the practice session is held. Until the late 90s the race used to start sharp at 3.30 pm local time. It was actually one and half an hour late from the other European Formula 1 races. But now the Monaco Grand Prix authorities have adjusted this gap to bring stability in the race timings all over Europe.
It all started in 14th April, 1929. From that day car racing has developed a lot. Monaco Grand Prix started with cars with average speed of 80 kilometers and now the average speed of racing cars in Monaco and all over the world is 142 kilometers. According to the formula one calendar this year, Monaco Grand Prix is the sixth formula 1 car racing competition.
Monaco Grand Prix authorities will celebrate 63 glorious years of this championship. So far the maximum number of Monaco Grand Prix winner is Ayrton Senna. This great Brazilian racing legend is the six time champion in Monaco Grand Prix. Graham Hill has won it five times. Monaco’s native racers are Andre Testut, Olivier Beretta and Louis Chiron. For the last two years, it is Fernando Alonso who is winning this prestigious race. Hotels are not available during the racing season, so a pre booking is very important.
