The overall development and rise in economy of any country is to a large extent dependent on the scientific and technological advancement. The sphere of Malta science and technology in recent years has strengthened due to the efforts of The Malta Council for Science and Technology. This board includes in it some of the much known members from both the private and the public sectors.
The goals in the field of Malta science and technology that the board aims at achieving include development accompanied by partnership between the two sectors of the economy. A number of plans and programs have been undertaken by this board for technological research that would lead to more optimum and efficient use of the country's resource.
This council serves as the body that advices the government on major issues related to the field of science and technology. The field of technology in Malta largely concentrates around the shipbuilding and the repair industry. Also manufacturing industry especially that related to that of computers is an important industry in Malta.
Universities of Malta offer specialized course to equip students in this sphere. The courses offered include electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, dental and surgery. Also, an agrarian society had been set up for the purpose of further improvement.
The Malta Council for Science and technology also has with it the responsibility of identifying areas in Malta science and technology that need emphasis. Also, this council comes up with plans that should be undertaken in some of the priority sectors. As such, this council plays a pivot role in Malta science and technology.
