Malta Geography



Malta geography holds all the information about the location and demography of the place. According to the Malta geography, it is a group of islands situated in the Mediterranean Sea at a distance of 290 kilometers north of Tunisia and 90 kilometers south of Sicily. In the group of islands of Malta the popular islands are Filfla, Malta, Cominotto, Gozo and Comino.

The geography of Malta establishes that the island is located 35o50 N and 14o 35 E. The total land area covered by the island of Malta is three hundred and sixteen square kilometers. The coastline of Malta extends about 196.8 square kilometers.

Malta is mainly a low rocky land without any river. Ta'Dmejrek is the highest point in Malta and the lowest point is Mediterranean Sea. Salt and lime stone are the popular minerals of this place. Farming is also an important source of earning in these islands. From the total land area of Malta, 28.13% of land is cultivable. As per the estimate of 1998 the total irrigational land in the area is 20 square kilometers. The climatic condition of Malta is pleasant with rains in the winter season. The summer season in Malta is hot and dry.
