Malta University is one of the prestigious universities of the world. Formerly a college, it was given the status of a university in the year 1769, by Grand Master Manoel Pinto de Fonseca. The Senate and the Council are the supreme authorities of the University of Malta. The present student strength of the institution is around 10,000.
