In year 1981, a large amount of money was invested for the purpose of research and development of Science and technology in Luxembourg. Three public research centers were opened in the year of 1987, which marked an important step in the field of Public Research in Luxembourg. They were:
- The Gabriel Lippmann Public Research Centre
- The Henri Tudor Public Research Centre
- The Public Research Centre for Health.
The national research fund was set up in the year of 1999 to promote various scientific researches. This has given a great impetus to the development of science and technology of Luxembourg.
Scientific Research Institute in Luxembourg includes a number of research institutes, which conduct research in nuclear sciences and in the field of Psychology. One of the famous Research institutes in Luxembourg is SECAN - Lab or the Interoperability Laboratory for Security in Ad-Hoc Networks lab. This Luxembourg research Institute is affiliated under the University of Luxembourg. The research institute has laid its emphasis on practical experiences on the newest mobile devices apart from the theories of the mobile. Scientific research forms an integral part of the University of Luxembourg too.
