Prime Minister of Luxembourg is considered to be the head of the government in Luxembourg. The chair for the post of Prime Minister in Luxembourg came into being in 1848. The responsibility of the Luxembourg Prime Minister was previously held by the President of the government. The title became official since 1849.

Present Luxembourg Prime Minister
The current
Prime Minister of Luxembourg is Jean-Claude Juncker. He was born on 9th December in 1954. He did his Masters in Law in 1979 from University of Strasbourg. But ultimately he did not land up as a lawyer. He took part in politics as a member of the Christian Social Party in 1974. He became the Parliamentary Secretary in 1979. He was appointed as a member of the Parliament in 1984.
Jean-Claude Juncker was a pro-European. In 1989, he became the Minister of Finance and Minister of Labor. His excellent skill as a politician became evident in 1989-1994. He was the leader of the Christian Social Party from January 1990 to February 1995.
It was after the general election on 13 June, 2004, that Jean-Claude Juncker was appointed as the Prime Minister at Luxembourg on 31st July, 2004.
