Palanga



Palanga city is located along the Baltic Sea coastline. It occupies the northwestern portion of Lithuania. The history of the town dates back to as early as 12th and 13th century. That was the time when human settlements began to flourish in Palanga city. In ancient times, Palanga was an important center of maritime trade and commerce. At present the population of Palanga City comprises of about 20,000 inhabitants. Palanga has now emerged as an important tourist hub. The sand dunes, the beautiful beaches and the virgin beauty of the surroundings of the city attract a number of tourists each year. It has been developed as resort town. Palanga is well connected to the other regions of Lithuania and other important cities in Europe. The airport at Palanga has several flight to destinations like Tallin, Moscow, hamburg, Kristianstadt, Berlin, Vilnius, Frankfurt, Munster and Hanover. Palanga is also famous for being one of the places where there are huge reserves of amber. There are a number of people in the city who are engaged in crafting amber for various uses. There is a Amber Museum in the city too. It is a unique collection and is flocked by tourists. Another tourist attraction in Palanga is the Count Tiskevicius Park. Palanga in Lithuania is an important city as it is the seat of political affairs in the country.
