With more of coconut trees than human population, Kiribati stands comprising of 33 Islands. Above 6 meters above the sea level and barrier reefs create natural lagoons for whale watching, swimming, snorkeling and fishing. The common type of whales that usually migrate near the coasts and provide for the entertainment cause of whale watching are Minke Whales, White Beaked Dolphins, Harbor porpoises, and the popular Humpback whales. The Majisticand Fin, Sei Whales and Killer whales are also occasional visitors to the coast.
Exciting and educational whale watching cruises can be boarded so that a closer view of the whales is perceived and hearing them spout is another feeling of thrill. The usual time for them to migrate towards the coast is from December to April. The cruise tours do not operate on National holidays like New Year, Valentines Day, Easter and Christmas. The booking must be done at least before 24 hours and the confirmation is done within few hours.
