The train is the most convenient and safest way to travel though it is very slow with delays. A 2,778 km of rail is maintained by the
Kenya Railways Corp., more than half of which make up the main line between Uganda and Mombasa(the chief port).

Nairobi. The Nairobi Air Terminal provides for international air services to Europe, Asia and other parts of Africa. Presently there are 250 airports and plenty of airlines linking Nairobi with Mombasa, Kisumu,Malindi, Lamu and wildlife parks. There are two International airports- Kenyatta International Airport and Moi International airport.

Mombasa is well paved and all the secondary roads are are being widened and resurfaced by the government. More than 80% of Kenya's passenger and freight traffic use road transport.
Public transportation( road transport) comprises buses, Matatus etc.
The port at Mombasa links the place with Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, the DROC, and the Sudan as well as Kenya. A national shipping line was made in 1987. There is steamer service on
Lake Victoria. In 2002, the
merchant marine owned two ships.
