Kenya Music is a blend of traditional form of music of the tribal and the coast music mainly belonging to the Swahili tradition. Both local music of Kenya and the international music have influenced the musical culture of this east African country immensely. There are number of musical schools and colleges in Kenya which are dedicated to the cause of music. Songs and dance has always been an integral part of the culture and tradition of Africa and Kenya is no different. The traditional music of the Masai tribe for ceremonies and victories were the first form of music to have evolved in the country. From the second half of the 20th century international music like pop, jazz and rock entered the Kenyan culture and was embraced by the people. With western music the traditional instruments of Kenya was replaced by the western musical instruments also. The commencement of the 21st century witnessed a new wave of music which shook the country of Kenya to its roots.
