Kenya clothing is varied as there are a number of tribes in Kenya. Each of the tribes of Kenya has their own dress and clothing culture that make them different and distinctive from each other. As such there is not a single dress that can be called to the identifying dress for the people of Kenya. Of late there has been an effort to make a national dress for the people of Kenya. But this dress has not become widely popular with general people. However, on a large scale, Kenya can boast of its varied way of dress and clothing done in several tribal communities.
Kenya clothing is particularly known for its attractive blend of variegated colors and designs that are distinctive of the various tribes here. On a whole Kenya has a clothing pattern that covers almost the full body and is a wrapping type of clothing. There has been a project taken by the Government of Kenya that is sponsored by the Unilever and is known as 'Sunlight quest for Kenya's national dress'. This project has come up with a particular design and was shown to the people though it has never been popular among the general people.
There are several types of clothing that are in vogue among the several tribes who are inhabiting in Kenya. Kitenge is traditional dress that is popular in almost all the African countries. This is sarong type of dress and is wore traditionally in several occasions by the Kenyan people also. Then there is the red tribal dress that is wore by the Masai tribal people in Kenya. The red color of their dress represents their love for mother earth.
