The nature of the Government of Jordan is a constitutional monarchy, which is represented by a government. The reigning king, Abdullah II is the head of the state. He is both the Chief Executive and the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the country. With and through the help of the Cabinet, the Council of Ministers and the Prime Minister the king exercises his executive authority. The Jordan Government under the 1952 constitution declared this.
The legislative branch of the Government of Jordan is constituted of the House of Deputies and the Senate. The Judicial branch is an independent body of the Jordan Government.
Since 1989 the Government of Jordan has been following a path of larger democracy and liberalization. This reformation was possible for the able guidance of the Late King Hussein.
