Estonia Society and Culture

The present Estonia society and culture is the end result of many centuries of East European cultural synthesis. The Estonian culture is best displayed by the Estonian language. The language is a rare dialect of the Finno-Ugric school of ancient languages.

The Estonia society and culture exhibits many East European cultural mores. The country has seen human immigration from neighboring countries like Finland and Germany from the dawn of history. The latter period of the country's history saw Estonia being administratively ruled by its bigger and more dominant neighbors like Russia and Sweden. The country is a battleground between Eastern and Western part of Europe from the medieval ages. This has resulted in the formation of a culture that is second to none anywhere in the world.

The Estonian culture has been shaped by its turbulent past. The past has led the country to a tolerant religious society that incorporates various aspects of both the western Protestant Church and an Eastern Orthodox Church. The society of Estonia is symbolic of its stark realities. The Estonian culture encompasses the features of traditional livelihoods and a fairly widespread liberalism that is a result of a chequered political history. The average Estonian considers self sufficiency as one of more desirable assets in a human being.
