Lake Nasser Fishing and tour is a popular activity among tourists and Egyptians alike. Lake Nasser is the largest artificial lake in the world. When in 1960s the High Dam was built, the lake was created on one side of the dam. The site of the lake covers parts of the site of the Abu Simbel temple, built by Ramses II in 1200 BC. The Lake Nasser region is rich in the variety life forms.
The waters of lake Nasser is home to around thirty two species of fish. The most sought after fish in this lake include the Tiger Fish, Nile Perch, many types of catfish. The Giant Vindu is a type of catfish, which is considered to be the largest among all varieties of catfish. The abundance of fish in the Lake Nasser has made it economically important for many of the Egypt's fishermen and anglers, who make their living by fishing in this lake. Reportedly, each year more than 80,000 tonnes of fish are caught.

For tourists, many cruising agencies arrange for special fishing rides down the Lake Nasser. The best time to go fishing in lake Nasser are February to June and from the middle of October to the end of January. In the February to June Season, the Nile Perch can be fished in the shallow waters.
