Egypt history provides information regarding the Ancient Egypt. It is in fact the record of the remarkable past events that the country once underwent. The Nile valley constitutes the natural geological unit, surrounded to the west and east by deserts, whereas to the north by the sea and the south by the waterfalls of the Nile.
In order to manage the Nile waters, the need to form a single authority was developed and this led to the creation of the world's first Egyptian state in around 3000 BC. Like few other counties in the world, Egypt remained independent and self-contained state for a long time. However, once Egypt underwent the foreign rule and was ruled by the foreigners including Persians, Greeks, Assyrians, Romans, Arabs, Ottomans, French, Byzantine Greeks and the British.
Basically the history of Egypt can be divided in the following period:
- Modern Egypt since 1882
- Egypt under Muhammad Ali's rule from 1805 to 1882
- Ottoman Egypt from 1517 to 1805
- Arab Egypt from 639 to 1517
- Egypt under Roman rule from 30 BC to AD 639
- Ptolemaic Egypt from 332 BC to 30 BC
- Achaemenid Persian rule from 525 BC to 332 BC
- History of ancient Egypt from 3000 BC to 525 BC
