Cyprus - Culture and Society is the melting pot of various influences since many people have come to this country at different points in time. People of different places, their culture, life style, religion, and customs all have contributed to the present characteristic of Cyprus culture and society.
The family is in the center of the society of Cyprus. The social structure includes both the nuclear as well as the extended family. There is a strong bonding within the extended family and the relatives. Elders are very much respected and children are supposed to fulfill their duties.
People follow different religions in Cyprus. There are Greek orthodox, Muslim, Armenian Apostolic and Maronite. People speak in both of the official languages namely Greek and Turkish. But English, Arabic and Armenian languages are also in use.
Cyprus culture includes various festivals. Gifts are exchanged but not in an elaborate manner. People like to wear casual dresses. Above all Cyprus people are warm, friendly and hospitable.
