Botswana Religion


Botswana is predominantly a Christian country. About 60 percent of the population follows this religion. David Livingstone was a pioneer in bringing the religion of Botswana to Christianity. The country of Botswana is full of churches like Anglican, Catholic, Methodist, Lutheran and Zion Christian Church. The various religious institutions need to register with the government. Only the Christian holidays are considered as holidays. The Muslim community has total population of about 23,000 people, which is slightly over one percent of the total population.

The main principle of these churches is intense devotion and faith. Apart from Christianity, the other religions that are followed here include Islam and Hinduism. Botswana religion plays a crucial role in making the people devoted to a single supreme authority. The various religious places in Botswana also attract local people as well as various tourists from all over the world. The main reason is that in these places people can confess their sins and other misdoings.

The Botswana religion also teaches people to treat all people equally without any distinction on the basis of creed, color, caste and sex. Moreover, it has also been mentioned that the religion of Botswana also help in developing a fellow feeling among the people. Not only that, it also plays a crucial role in unifying the people of the country on the basis of peace and harmony.
