The President of Botswana heads the
Executive of Botswana. The president is appointed to the post by the members of the Parliament of Botswana. The president is assisted in his administrative duties by the vice president of the African country.
The Executive of Botswana consists of a number of ministers. The number of ministers may vary according to the duties they have to perform in a certain period of time. There are several assistant ministers to help the main ministers to carry out their political duties. The various ministers head the following ministries:

The President of Botswana has sweeping administrative powers with certain limitations under the Executive Branch of Botswana. The president has the power to appoint or dismiss ministers without any political consultation with the Botswana Cabinet or its Parliament. There are 13 political parties in the country. The Botswana Democratic Party or BDP is the dominant political power in the African country.
