Belarus colleges are modeled on the Russian educational system. This is due to the fact that the Republic of Belarus was once a member state of the erstwhile Soviet Union.
Belarus colleges could be superficially divided on the basis of the education imparted. The general colleges teach non-professional courses like liberal arts and also theoretical science subjects like mathematics, chemistry and physics among others. The Belorussian government promotes the development of technical colleges in Belarus. This is evident from the large number of institutions imparting technical education in the East European country. There are many higher education practical science colleges at Belarus. These colleges enable their pupils to pursue studies until they get their doctorate degree. A majority of these colleges are funded by the Belorussian government. There are a very small number of private higher education Belarus colleges.
